At their meeting on February 2, 2006, the American Canyon City Council adopted the 2005 Urban Water Management Plan, which evaluates the City's ability to meet demand for water.  This document is required by the Urban Water Management Planning Act of the California Water Code and covers projected water supply and demand for the years 2005 to 2010.

The basic recommendations of the plan are that the City:

 

• exercise its options to purchase additional water;
• look for a source of dry-year water for years when State Water Project allotments are cut back; and
• make water availability a major factor in planning and implementing future development.
